Our vision for oracy
We believe that oracy is fundamental to learning, wellbeing, and belonging. Through purposeful talk, all learners will develop the confidence and skills to express ideas clearly, listen respectfully, think critically, and engage meaningfully with others. By placing spoken language at the heart of our curriculum and culture, we will ensure that every pupil has regular, structured opportunities to discuss, reason, present, and collaborate. We explicitly teach and model high-quality communication so that all voices are valued, gaps are closed, and learners are empowered to succeed in school and beyond as articulate, thoughtful, and responsible members of society.
Voice 21
We are proud to announce that in the academic years 2025/26, 2026/27 and 2027/28, we will be a partner school with Voice 21. Voice 21 supports schools to develop their teaching of oracy and we have chosen to focus on this as we feel that the aability to articulate ideas, develop understanding and engage with others through speaking, listening and communication shapes future life chances.
